Cecilia

Doña Cecilia began farming coffee with her parents when she was a child. Her family focused on processing coffee using traditional methods which focused on yield. Now with the help of her son, Faber, they apply modern processing methods and experiments with new processes. Throughout her life she has been surrounded by coffee and animals, which according to her have brought her immeasurable joy.

In addition to learning how to grow coffee, Doña Cecilia has been working with handcrafts since she was 10 years old. Her mother taught her how to mold clay into ornate pots. She splits her time between family, handcrafts, and as the leader of a women coffee growers group.

Coffee means a lot to Doña Cecilia, who recalls a childhood full of making decorations for floats used during coffee festivals. She attributes her popularity in her community to her youth when she and her family would decorate floats used in coffee parades.

As a women coffee farmer and leader, she is proud to have been chosen by her peers to participate in workshops and coffee fairs, which have allowed her to share her knowledge, other groups of women coffee farmers.

She dreams of making her farm a model for specialty coffee production in her community. She is motivated to continue on this beautiful path of specialty coffee while participating in contests and coffee events, while promoting the women she supports.

It is an honor for Cosecha Traders to make Dona Cecilia, a woman dedicated to promoting coffee culture among other women in her community in the US for the first time.
