About Us
Cosecha Traders is a social impact enterprise that supports smallholder farmers in vulnerable regions of southwestern Colombia, connecting them with specialty coffee roasters in the US and promoting the direct relationships that increase the growers’ economic potential.
As our world redefines itself, opportunities emerge that reshape coffee importing through empowering the communities where specialty coffee is grown. Based in Colombia, Cosecha Traders challenges the traditional coffee trading model by helping the communities that grow and process the precious crop.
Cosecha Traders imports green bean specialty coffee grown by disenfranchised farmers in remote, conflict-affected regions of southwestern Colombia. We understand the political, economic, and social challenges that these smallholder farmers face and work in partnership with them to gain stability in an unstable environment.
By introducing their highly unique coffees from three distinct areas to the top roasters in the USA, our smallholder farmers gain exposure, develop their potential, and form direct relationships with specialty roasters.
We are passionate about our work and love everything about coffee. We are sure that we can make all those stories visible in a sincere manner that connects people all over the world.
Since 2017, we have built the path we are on by meeting inspiring people and learning about a global business. We have linked more than 30 producers (and counting) with specialty coffee roasters in the USA. Producers gain a different perspective on their farms, transform mindsets, and develop relationships that help them harvest their dreams.
We are committed to smallholder farmers, their families, and communities. We do not give false expectations nor make false promises. Instead, our actions aim to impact a coffee producer's livelihood positively.
Our sourcing takes us to remote, difficult-to-access locations with adverse conditions like many others in Colombia; however, we focus on connecting producers vulnerable to illicit economies with specialty coffee roasters. Like our producers, we meet each challenge with bravery and believe wholeheartedly that coffee is a vehicle for change in remote, rural Colombia.
At Cosecha Traders, we search for coffee and aim to develop farmer’s potential. We believe that honesty is the basis for great relationships and transparency with partner producers and roasters. We set aside our interests to base our work on truth. We give producers and partner roasters fairness and respect and work daily for our actions to be coherent with our words.
Cosecha Traders is a proud member of an informal network of professionals and leaders who have worked in conflict zones across Colombia for decades. The network is called the Silent Peace and it is an intersectoral group of men and women that represent the country’s rich cultural diversity and perspectives with whom we share a common goal: that Colombia obtains peace.
During their lives, the members of the Silent Peace have accumulated valuable experiences that have allowed them to understand the root causes of the Colombian conflict. They are determined to be agents of change, each from his own place, without asking for acknowledgement or recognition.
The network’s profound understanding of the country is important and necessary to promote change and progress for all Colombians. Its selflessness and commitment inspired us to found our company in order to help those who have been marginalized due to decades of armed conflict.
