Marco Aurelio comes from a long line of self-taught coffee farmers. Walking among coffee trees since he was a child, he is proud and embraces everything about its culture.
From a very young age, he began to learn about coffee farming. His parents instilled a strong work ethic and still use many of the lessons they taught him about the crop. In 2007, when Marco faced a shortage in coffee production, he chose to process specialty for the first time. This marked the beginning of what has since become a journey into the world of exotic coffee varietals and experimental processes. Marco also grows and sells plantains to provide a secondary income for his family.
For Marco, discipline has helped him adapt to ever-changing prices. Although everything he knows is self-taught, Marco dreams of receiving much more training and improving his farm's infrastructure.
Marco is a model coffee farmer in his region, who despite having felt pressure to grow illicit crops, has placed blind faith in specialty coffee as a way to look toward a brighter future. Today, he feels satisfaction as Cosecha Traders imports his microlot into the USA for the first time, knowing that his hard work and sacrifice have paid off.
