At 20 years old, Isabel is a young coffee grower and is passionate about what she does. She has been surrounded by coffee her whole life. When she was a child, she helped her parents pick coffee cherries after school. A few years ago, she began to save money to process her first crop, and today she has seen her hard work come to fruition. Isabel dreams of life ahead in specialty coffee.
In addition to starting her process as a coffee farmer, she is currently completing studies in business management at a nearby university and works with her sister, who buys and sells specialty coffee. Isabel holds her sister in high regard as she has taught her family everything they know about specialty coffee, including her. As a young woman, Isabel has demonstrated character and leadership in a male-oriented trade. Despite this, she and her sister have earned respect in their community and Western Huila.
Isabel plans to continue growing as a coffee farmer, improving her quality every day, and receiving more training. She is an example for more coffee farmers in her community that determination and passion complement familial traditions.
