Flor

Flor has produced coffee since she was a child. Like many coffee-growing families, picking and processing coffee was a family affair during the harvest. For years, her family farmed commercial-grade coffee, selling it for low prices in town. Now, she works alongside her husband to produce coffees that have competed in the Cup of Excellence.

Her journey into specialty coffee production is the result of curiosity and faith. “We knew that we had good coffee because we had tasted it in the cupping lab, but we did not know what part of our farm it came from,” says Flor. Her husband, a Q Grader in a nearby producers' association, cupped each lot independently, resulting in a tedious yet worthwhile effort. Although a blessing. Flor believes that experience adds to the advantages her farm possesses. “Our coffee is special due to the microclimate, soil, varietals, but our experience is what makes our coffee stand out,” affirms Flor.

As a woman coffee farmer, Flor is unphased by any challenges she finds on her journey. “Being a woman doesn't change anything about how I grow coffee,” Flor says, “I do this because it makes me happy.”

Flor dreams of being recognized within Colombia and abroad for producing excellent coffee. She and her husband are constantly learning and innovating on the farm. Gradually, they have invested in infrastructure and soil quality, which is fundamental to producing high-quality coffee.

Cosecha Traders is honored to support a female farmer like Flor in her pursuit to achieve her vision as a renowned coffee farmer.
