We Colombians have always shown unlimited desire to overcome adversity on our way to building a positive and more inclusive country. However, not all sectors of our society have access to the same opportunities that promote progress. Historically underserved, smallholder farmers have the additional burdens of weather, paying their pickers, and getting their crops to market. They must deal with the very real dangers of illegal groups who may go so far as to stop their harvest. They must decide between growing commercial coffee, which is easier to produce and less work-intensive, or the higher quality specialty grade that brings a better price.

It takes a special person to produce specialty coffee. But we believe specialty coffee is a vehicle for change through which vulnerable smallholder farmers can access their dream of economic stability. Now, we share their stories and ours with you.
